Too often, systems are designed by sales reps who don’t have the electrical qualifications to understand the complexity of a home’s existing wiring. Without the technical expertise of a qualified electrician they can’t foresee future implications and inadvertently design inferior systems.
Alternatively, systems are designed with a ‘path of least resistance’ mentality to cut corners and reduce the subcontractor installation cost.
Ultimately customers are hit with unexpected costs to make a system compatible. Or left with under-performing systems and messy installs by subcontractors that cut corners to hide mistakes in the design or rush to get onto the next job.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get a battery if my original installer is gone?
Yes. A new accredited installer can add a battery to your system, and you’ll still be eligible for rebates.
Can I extend an Enphase solar system that has old microinverters?
Yes. At Omzen Solar we assess your setup and recommend the best way to expand. New microinverters can be integrated with old microinverters to report in the same system dashboard.
Can I claim Battery STCs if I already have a battery?
Yes. Adding capacity to, or replacing, an existing battery can be eligible under the Cheaper Home Batteries program if:
- The existing battery has not already received STCs under the program, and
- The new battery system or the additional capacity meet the nominal capacity requirements (between 5kW and 100kW).
Is the battery rebate automatic?
No. There are some simple steps to ensure you can claim your Battery STC discount.
- You must choose an SAA accredited electrician to install the system.
- The battery and inverter must be listed on the CEC Approved Battery and Inverter lists. Omzen’s accredited installers only design and install CEC approved batteries and inverters.
- Omzen create and submit your Battery STC claim form on your behalf so you can receive an immediate discount from your invoice.
What if I rent?
The current policy is focused on homeowners and business owners.
Can I claim the rebate on more than one property?
Yes, you can claim battery STCs for more than one property, provided each property has its own electricity meter and is a separate address, as the rebate is applied per property, not per person or business. Each installation at a distinct location can qualify for the rebate, allowing owners with multiple eligible properties to apply for a separate rebate at each one.
How long will the rebate be available?
The program aims to support over 1 million battery installations by 2030, but funding is limited and the value of the Battery STCs reduces each year, so we recommend early action to gain the largest discount.
